REDUCTION IN PARISH MASSES
New Sunday & Holy Day Mass Times
Beginning on Sat. 3rd/Sun. 4th Jan. 2004

The decision to reduce the number of masses in the parish was not an easy one. However, it appears from the survey that most people understand that it is a necessary one. The decision was made on the analysis of the survey and the following considerations.

1. 60% of respondents felt that St Patrick's, St Colmcille's and St Brigid's should each drop a Sunday mass. This was felt to be fair.
2. The masses highlighted in the survey that could be done without were 6.30pm St Brigid's, 9.00am St Colmcille's and 5.00pm St Patrick's.
3. We took into account the results of the survey but also the attendance at particular masses. As the 6.30pm St Brigid's has a larger attendance than the 10.00am mass it seemed more appropriate to drop the 10.00am.
4. It was thought that a 9.00am rather than 8.00am in St Patrick's would better served the parish as whole.
5. As St Patrick's is the largest Church in the parish it seemed sensible that most of the Sunday masses take place there.

HOLY DAY MASSES
There has also been a change in the Holy Days masses. Most of the evening masses for the Holy Day will now take place on the evening of the Holy Day itself. There will be one vigil mass in St Patrick's.
